ChatLicense wins prize in Silicon Valley

News

11 November 2024

ChatLicense has won the Global Impact Challenge hosted by Singularity University and SYNC Ithra. This challenge sought solutions that address misinformation, cyberbullying, and social polarization. Out of more than 500 global entries, ChatLicense was awarded first place, winning a $250,000 cash prize to support its growth.

The Challenge focuses exclusively on tech initiatives that promote digital well-being, and the top 10 finalists were invited to Silicon Valley. Martine de Leeuw, co-founder of ChatLicense, to deliver the pitch and answer questions from the judges.

“Being invited here is already confirmation in itself that we have created a solution that can truly make a difference,” says Martine. “But winning is fantastic; it allows us to scale faster and help even more families. While introducing the smartphone later, screen time, and the right settings are all crucial, we know it’s not enough. We can give children a better start online by teaching them all about what they can expect as soon as they get their first smartphone, and that’s exactly what ChatLicense does for families. Just as parents teach children to cross the road safely and ride a bike, we also need to guide them in navigating the online world. But since many of us don’t fully understand it, this guidance often falls short. Both children and parents end up ‘in the deep end’ of the digital world. With our app, we offer a way to integrate online safety into everyday parenting.”

“It is our honor to recognize ChatLicense as the winner of this year’s Global Impact Challenge for Digital Wellbeing, says Aaron Vaccaro, President of Singularity and a GIC judge. While we were deeply impressed by all of the finalists, ChatLicense’s focus on teaching internet safety skills for children truly resonated with the core mission of this competition. By empowering the next generation of internet users with the tools and knowledge to navigate the digital world responsibly, they have created a solution aimed at stopping misinformation, cyberbullying and social polarization before it has the chance to begin. We look forward to seeing how the ChatLicense team continues to evolve and scale this transformative solution.”
