Digidromen helps children be smarter online with ChatLicense

News

9 June 2026

As of today, at least 2,200 children will receive a “driver’s license” for the online world alongside a laptop from Digidromen. While Digidromen ensures that every child has a laptop for school, ChatLicense helps children to deal with it smartly and consciously from the start.

The two companies share common ground in their mission to provide every child with equal opportunities, given the approximately 340,000 children growing up in poverty in the Netherlands. Shrinking the digital divide does not only call for hardware – it is also important that children learn how to deal with it.

Everyone smarter online

Digidromen wants a future in which every schooling child in the Netherlands has their own laptop, so that every child has equal opportunities to develop optimally. ChatLicense wants every child to be able to go online independently, safely, smartly and consciously.

“At Digidromen we believe that every child has the right to equal opportunities. A laptop opens the door to education, development and participation in society, but access alone is not enough. Children also need to learn how to navigate the digital world safely, consciously and independently. That’s why we’re proud of our partnership with ChatLicense. By combining hardware with digital skills, we not only give children the tools to participate, but also the confidence and knowledge to shape their own future. In this way, we make a difference together for thousands of children and work on a generation that is not only digitally connected, but also digitally resilient and literate,” says Karin van der Leest, director of Digidromen.

Marjolein van Tilburg, founder of ChatLicense, adds: “In addition to the smartphone and tablet, children also enter the online world independently through their laptop. From searching for information to emailing and clicking on links: someone has to explain to them how to do this safely and smartly. ChatLicense also supports the connection between parent and child, so that they continue to understand each other when different programs, apps, influences and algorithms enter the picture. That’s exactly why we created ChatLicense.”
