How your kid can drop their first hit with one click

Making beats like Tiësto, playing piano like Mozart, or writing a hit without reading a note: With AI music apps, it’s all possible. Artificial intelligence is taking over the music world, and our kids are diving in head-first. Sounds fun (and it really is), but what’s behind all that digital magic?

Just speak into the microphone, type in some text, or press a few buttons, and within seconds you have a complete song. The benefits? Kids can experiment with different styles and let their creativity run free. It’s a playful way to discover music theory—they learn about rhythm, melody, and song structure. Quickly creating something cool builds confidence and teaches children how to work with advanced technology.

Of course, there are risks
Copyright is a big one: AI-generated music can sound dangerously close to existing songs. Apps like Udio and Suno (more on those below) produce very realistic music, so it’s important that your child understands that not everything AI creates is automatically theirs. Many apps also collect data about usage patterns and creations. Always check privacy settings and read what happens with your child’s data. Udio and other apps often store all creations on their servers. Many apps also have premium features that cost money—make sure your child doesn’t accidentally approve an automatic payment. Finally, most AI music apps have little to no moderation, so kids might encounter or create songs with questionable lyrics.

Now that you know the risks, it’s time to explore an app together with your child. Try one of these:

  • Suno AI: Create your own songs using only a text prompt. Within minutes, you get a full song with vocals and instruments.
  • Udio AI: Browser-based only, no app. Make a song in a certain genre like “happy pop” or “calm piano music.” Known for its natural-sounding vocals and professional production quality. On to Billboard Hot 100!
  • Amper Music: Lets you select emotions, styles, and instruments for your music—perfect for videos.

You guessed it: afterwards, it’s good to talk about it: “What do you think of AI creating such realistic music?” or “How do you think this is made?” Awareness is everything in the world of AI!
